Abstract:

This study focuses on developing and evaluating a Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative model for tuberculosis (TB). It involves constructing a deterministic compartmental model to understand TB dynamics and integrating interventions such as vaccination, educational counselling, and treatment. The methodology employs iterative techniques and the fixed-point theorem to establish solutions for the model. Specifically, the model identifies equilibrium points corresponding to disease outbreaks and disease-free scenarios. Additionally, it demonstrates the local asymptotic stability of the disease-free equilibrium point and outlines the criteria for the presence of the endemic equilibrium point. Numerical simulations illustrate that emphasizing TB interventions significantly reduces the epidemic within the community.

Abstract

Agricultural wastes are produced seasonally in large quantities and readily available after every post-harvest operation. Agriculture is the largest anthropogenic source of methane (CH4), emitting 145 Tg CH4 y−1 to the atmosphere in 2017. The main sources are enteric fermentation, manure management, rice cultivation and residue burning. There is significant potential to reduce CH4 from these sources, with bottom- up mitigation potentials of approximately 10.6, 10, 2 and 1 Tg CH4 y−1 from rice management, enteric fermentation, manure management and residue burning. Other system-wide studies have assumed even higher potentials of 4.8–47.2 Tg CH4 y−1 from reduced enteric fermentation, and 4– 36 Tg CH4 y−1 from improved rice management. Biogas (a methane-rich gas mixture generated from the anaerobic decomposition of organic matter and used for energy) also has the potential to reduce unabated CH4 emissions from animal manures and human waste. In addition to these supply side measures, interventions on the demand-side (shift to a plant-based diet and a reduction in total food loss and waste by 2050) would also significantly reduce methane emissions, perhaps in the order of greater than 50 Tg CH4 y−1. While there is a pressing need to reduce emissions of long-lived greenhouse gases (CO2 and N2O) due to their persistence in the atmosphere, despite CH4 being a short- lived greenhouse gas, the urgency of reducing warming means we must reduce any GHG emissions we can as soon as possible. Because of this, mitigation actions should focus on reducing emissions of all the three main anthropogenic greenhouse gases, including CH4.

Agricultural wastes, methane (CH4), manure management, rice cultivation and residue burning, GHG emissions.

2 UG Students, Department of Civil Engineering, E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College (Autonomous), Nagapattinam-611002, Tamil Nadu, India.

Abstract

With concerns rising about the environmental impact of traditional concrete, this research investigates a novel approach to sustainable mix design using Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) and cenospheres as partial replacements for cement and fine aggregate, respectively. While POFA reduces CO2 emissions by lowering cement use, cenospheres, hollow spheres obtained from coal combustion, contribute to lighter weight and improved thermal insulation.

This study explores the optimal combination of POFA (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%) and cenospheres (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%) within the mix design while ensuring the Compressive strength, flexural strength, tensile strength, and long-term behavior will be compared against the control mix to assess the impact of varying replacement levels. Fresh properties such as ease of mixing, workability and setting time will be evaluated for practical construction applications. Life cycle assessment will quantify the reduction in CO2 emissions and resource consumption achieved across different replacement levels. Cost analysis will consider the material cost, transportation, and potential waste disposal fees to determine the economic viability of each combination.

This research aims to establish a roadmap for sustainable concrete production by optimizing the usage of POFA and cenospheres within an extensive range of replacement levels. The findings will contribute valuable insights for engineers, architects, and policymakers seeking to implement environmentally responsible

construction practices.

Abstract

Water scarcity is one of the major problems in the world and millions of people have no access to freshwater. Untreated wastewater is widely used for agriculture in many countries. This is one of the world-leading serious environmental and public health concerns. Instead of using untreated wastewater, treated wastewater has been found more applicable and eco-friendly option. Moreover, environmental toxicity due to solid waste exposures is also one of the leading health concerns. Therefore, intending to combat the problems associated with the use of untreated wastewater, we propose in this review a multidisciplinary approach to handle wastewater as a potential resource for use in agriculture. We propose a model showing the efficient methods for wastewater treatment and the utilization of solid wastes in fertilizers. The study also points out the associated health concern for farmers, who are working in wastewater-irrigated fields along with the harmful effects of untreated wastewater. The consumption of crop irrigated by wastewater has leading health implications also discussed in this review paper. This review further reveals that our current understanding of the wastewater treatment and use in agriculture with addressing advancements in treatment methods has great future possibilities and particularly to analysis about the velankanni town panchayath’s  2.33 mld sewage treatment plant and find the way of using the treated wastewater in agriculture works.

Abstract:

The project title is “RATIO ANALYSIS AT LOTUS TVS”. The project aims at analyzing ratio analysis at Lotus TVS. Ratio analysis is the specific area of finance dealing with the financial decision corporations make, and the tools and analysis used to make the decisions. The discipline as a whole may be divided between long-term and short-term decisions and techniques. Both share the same goal of enhancing firm value by ensuring that return on capital exceeds cost of capital, without taking excessive financial risks. Capital investment decisions comprise the long-term choices about which projects receive investment, whether to finance that investment with equity or debt, and when or whether to pay dividends to shareholders. Short-term corporate finance decisions are called working capital management and deal with balance of current assets and current liabilities by managing cash, inventories, and short-term borrowings and lending (e.g., the credit terms extended to customers). It needs to be observed that accounting ratios exhibit relationship, if any, between accounting numbers extracted from financial statements. Ratios are essentially derived numbers and their efficacy depends a great deal upon the basic numbers from which they are calculated. Further, a ratio must be calculated using numbers which are meaningfully correlated

Abstract:

The project title is” BRAND AWARENESS” in KRISHNAVENI CARBON PRODUCT PRIVATE LIMITED IN COIMBATORE Brand awareness, as one of the fundamental dimensions of brand equity, is often considered to be a prerequisite of consumers’ buying decision, as it represents the main factor for including a brand in the consideration set. Brand awareness can also influence consumers’ perceived risk assessment and their confidence in the purchase decision, due to familiarity with the brand and its characteristics. On the other hand, brand awareness can be depicted into at least two facets – unaided (brand recall) and aided (brand recognition) – each of the two facets having its more or less effective influence on buying decision and perceived risk assessment. This paper tries to reveal, on one hand, the importance of unaided brand awareness when it comes to consumers’ buying decision and, on the other hand, the importance of aided brand awareness when assessing the perceived risk associated with the purchase. The analysis is conducted in a comparative manner, considering the case of durable versus non- durable products, and with focus on urban Romanian consumers.

Abstract:

The project entitled A STUDY ON EMPLOYEE RETENTION IN MIDAS SAFETY PVT LTD". Employee retention is beneficial for the organization as well as the employee. As soon as they feel dissatisfies with the current employer or the job, they switch over to the next job. It is the responsibility of the employer to retain their best employees. A good employer should know how to attract and retain employees. Most employees feel that they are worth more than they are actually paid for the job. There think they should be paid and what organizations spend in compensation. When the difference becomes too great and another opportunity occurs, turnover can result. Employees comprise the most vital assets of the company. In a workplace where employees are not able to use their full potential and not heard and valued, they are likely to leave because of stress and frustration. In a transparent environment while employees get a sense of achievement and belongingness from a healthy work environment, the company is benefited with a stronger, reliable work-force harbouring bright new ideas for its growth.

Abstract:

This work explores the use of bipartite fuzzy soft digraphs as a novel technique for detailed modelling of hereditary skin tone determination. Skin tone is a complex trait influenced by both inherited and environmental influences. It matters in genetics, customized medicine, and dermatology. Traditional modelling tools sometimes miss the intricate interactions between different components since they are complicated and ambiguous by nature. In this study, we propose to combine fuzzy logic and soft computing methodologies with bipartite fuzzy soft digraphs to construct a robust model of genetic skin tone determination. Defining vertices for genes, external variables, and phenotypic outcomes and edges for the linkages between them allows this strategy to account for the inherent ambiguity in the relationships between genes and environmental influences. We discuss how we built such a model and what it means for understanding the fundamental mechanisms that drive skin pigmentation. Furthermore, we get into potential uses in dermatological research, genetic investigations, and personalized healthcare. This study advances our understanding of genetic skin tone determination and establishes a potential framework for future research into complicated trait modeling.

Agarajan  P, Sundaravadivel.G, Navaneethakrishnan.V, Krishnamohan.S

Department of Mechanical Engineering, E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College, Nagapattinam, Tamilnadu, India-611002.

Abstract:

The effects of fuel injection strategies on the characteristics of common rail diesel injection engine using mahua methyl ester (MME20) blend have been investigated. Fuel injection strategies such as fuel pressure and split injection have been implemented on a test engine. When MME20 was used as the fuel on mechanical injection at an injection pressure of 22 MPa, specific fuel consumption and NOx emission were found to be increased and brake thermal efficiency (BTE) decreased. In the first phase, in order to optimise the utilisation of the mahua methyl ester blend, fuel injection pressure was increased from 20 to 50 MPa with an increment of 10 MPa. The experimental observation reveals that high fuel injection pressure (50 MPa) exhibits higher BTE and better combustion characteristics when compared with decremented injection pressures. HC, CO and smoke level decreased with an increase in injection pressure due to better-atomised spray and mixture formation. In the second phase, implementation of spilt injection 5% MME20 as pilot injection at 5°, 10° and 15° CA before main injection was identified with the decrease of HC, CO, NOx and smoke emission with marginal sacrifice of BTE compared with diesel fuel.

Abstract:

Fuel injection parameters such as fuel injection pressure (FIP) and start of main injection (SoMI) timings significantly affect the performance and emission characteristics of a common rail direct injection (CRDI) diesel engine. In this study, a state-of-the-art single cylinder research engine was used to investigate the effects of fuel injection parameters on combustion, performance, emission characteristics, and particulates and their morphology. The experiments were carried out at three FIPs (400, 700, and 1000 bar) and four SoMI timings (4 deg, 6 deg, 8 deg, and 10 deg bTDC) for biodiesel blends [B20 (20% v/v biodiesel and 80% v/v diesel) and B40 (40% v/v biodiesel and 60% v/v diesel)] compared to baseline mineral diesel. The experiments were performed at a constant engine speed (1500 rpm), without pilot injection and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The experimental results showed that FIP and SoMI timings affected the in-cylinder pressure and the heat release rate (HRR), significantly. At higher FIPs, the biodiesel blends resulted in slightly higher rate of pressure rise (RoPR) and combustion noise compared to baseline mineral diesel. All the test fuels showed relatively shorter combustion duration at higher FIPs and advanced SoMI timings. The biodiesel blends showed slightly higher NOx and smoke opacity compared to baseline mineral diesel. Lower particulate number concentration at higher FIPs was observed for all the test fuels. However, biodiesel blends showed emission of relatively higher number of particulates compared to baseline mineral diesel. Significantly lower trace metals in the particulates emitted from biodiesel blend fueled engine was an important finding of this study. The particulate morphology showed relatively smaller number of primary particles in particulate clusters from biodiesel exhaust, which resulted in relatively lower toxicity, rendering biodiesel to be more environmentally benign.

Abstract:

Al6061 alloy as matrix and Multiwall Carbon Nanotube (MWNT) as reinforcement (0, 0.5, 1, 2,3,4 & 5 weight percentage) have been successfully fabricated by Stir Casting Technique. Fatigue is a mechanical property of the material, which occurs when a material is repeatedly subjected to an average stress which is lower than the materials yield stress. Hot rolling is used mainly to produce sheet metal or simple cross sections, such as rail tracks. Damping specimens were prepared according to ASTM E 756-05 standard and the specimens were subjected to free vibration test to investigate the damping ratio and natural frequency. It is observed from the free vibration test data improvement in damping ratio, natural frequency and modulus when reinforced with 2 weight percentage of MWNT. Increase in weight percentage of MWNT beyond 2 wt% leads to deterioration in damping ratio, natural frequency and Young’s modulus. This is due to agglomeration of reinforcement phase. Also the mechanical properties of the developed composites have been studied.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College, Nagapattinam, Tamilnadu, India-611002.

Abstract:

In this study, the effects of wear behaviours of Al matrix composites reinforced with different B4C rate produced by powder metallurgy method were investigated. Al and B4C powders with purity of 99.9% and sizes of 25–44 µm were prepared as pure Al, 4% B4C/Al, 8% B4C/Al, 12% B4C/Al and 16% B4C/Al. After these prepared mixtures were pressed under 350 MPa, they were sintered for 90 min at 580 °C in atmospheric environment. Microhardness and wear tests of the produced samples were carried out. Wear experiments of these composites were performed with specially manufactured test equipment at different application loads (5 N, 10 N and 15 N), different sliding distances (250 m, 500 m, 750 m and 1000 m) and a constant speed of 0.46 m/s. In addition, optical microscope, SEM, EDS analyses were used to determine the microstructural changes in the worn and unworn surface of the manufactured composite materials. The results of experimental studies show that the increasing the B4C reinforced rate in composites with Al matrix has led to increase of the hardness and to reduce of the wear loss.

Abstract:

The main objective of this paper is to carry out a study of effect of nano Al2O3 reinforcement on the fatigue life of aluminum nano metal matrix composite. The reinforcing particulates in the NMMC’s vary from 0% to 2% by weight with an increment of 0.5%. The liquid metallurgy method coupled with powder metallurgy is employed to fabricate the composites, in which the reinforcements are poured into the vortex created by stirring the molten metal by means of mechanical two stage stirrer. The composites so produced are subjected to tensile and fatigue testing. Fatigue tests were conducted on Al2024 and its nano composite on rotary bending fatigue testing machine at five different stress levels. Statistical design of fatigue experiments was carried out to determine the sample size at each stress level. Details of generation of S-N curve for Al2024 and its composite using a regression analysis is delineated. ANOVA is performed in order to check the significance of regression equation. The S-N curve of the aluminum nano composite is compared with its matrix Al2024. Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) image of the cast NMMC having highest fatigue life is also taken in order to study the dispersion of reinforcements in the matrix.

TRIBOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS OF METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES UNDER VARYING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND LOAD REGIMES.

Ajay.J, A.Arunkumar, Sargunatamizhan.S, Harish Kirthi.S

Department of Mechanical Engineering, E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College, Nagapattinam, Tamilnadu, India-611002.

Abstract:

The abrasive, sliding, cavitation and particle erosive wear resistances of two aluminium alloys (Al6061 and Al2014), reinforced with 10, 15 and 20 vol% alumina particulates, and the Al6061 alloy reinforced with 20 vol% silicon carbide particles, have been measured. The modes by which these materials are worn by deformation and fracture processes have been examined by scanning electron microscopy. An attempt has been made to reconcile the steady-state wear rates of the alloys containing the different amounts of particles, with their observed wear modes and bulk mechanical properties of the composites. The resistance to abrasion is dominated by the composite's ability to resist indentation by hard particles.. The particulates become load bearing and protect the matrix by reducing the metal to counterface adhesion and wear. However, the counterface wear increases due to this interaction with the hard reinforcements. In contrast to the results for abrasive and sliding wear, the composites showed increasingly inferior erosion resistance with increasing volume fractions of particulates. This effect was especially evident for particle erosion. Thus microtoughness is the major requirement for erosion resistance and not hardness or strength. The presence of hard brittle particulates which constrain the matrix give the composites inferior erosion properties as compared to those of the base alloys. In all of the wear tests the Al6061 alloy containing 20 vol% silicon carbide gave better performances than the same alloy containing 20 vol% alumina. This effect is considered to be the result of the increased integrity of both the silicon carbide particles themselves and their interfaces with the metal matrix.

Abstract:

The polymer composite has a great advantage of light weight whereas the main drawback of it to apply in practical application is its poor mechanical and tribological properties. The main aim of the present study is to evaluate the wear behaviour of epoxy/hallosyite nanotube (HNT) composite using response surface methodology (RSM) and optimizing the process parameters namely, weight fraction of reinforcement, normal applied load and sliding speed by using Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution Method (TOPSIS). The composite specimens where subjected to wear test using pin on disc test setup at ambient condition and the relationship between the three key processes parameters were analysed on wear behaviour of the composite by attaining the multiple linear regression equations. Analysis of variance had been employed for obtaining the separate parametric impact on wear behaviour (Wear rate and coefficient of friction) of epoxy/HNT composite. The result indicates that the wear rate increases initially and further increase in HNT content the wear rate decreases gradually. Scanning electron microscopy is used to study the diverse wear mechanism in the specimens.

The present paper investigates experimentally the abrasive wear behaviour of polyester reinforced nano silica (extracted from sugarcane bagas) composite using pin on disc test rig. The correlations between the different factors affecting the abrasive wear behaviour of composites have been investigated by using multiple linear regression equations. ANOVA has been utilized to get individual impact on each dominant process parameters (percentage of reinforcement, applied load and sliding speed) which affects the abrasive wear of the polymer composite. From this research it is found that the dry sliding wear of polyester nano-silica composite decreases with an increase of the reinforcement content. The load-carrying potential of the polyester in dry sliding situation has been improved with the presence of nano-silica. Micro-structural examination was carried out to analyse the various wear mechanism of the polymer matrix composites with the use of scanning electron microscope (SEM).

Abstract:

The goal of this investigation was to ascertain the tribological characteristics of nanoclay-reinforced polylactic acid (PLA) developed by the process of Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM). To overcome the drawbacks of pure polymer, reinforcement was added to develop a novel feedstock filament composite to be used in FDM application. In this regard, Nanoclay (NC) was added as reinforcement to Polylactic acid (PLA). The studies focused on wear properties analysis of pure PLA and PLA reinforced with NC. The first aspect to be evaluated was the PLA/NC’s tribological performance by sliding wear testing using a pin on disc equipment while maintaining a constant load. Secondly, the test was carried out at a constant speed. The findings show that the siding orientation exerts a major effect on the friction coefficient as well as the wear rate. The worn surfaces' comparison analysis showed that the effective distribution of shear stress on the NC reinforcement can be credited with the great reduction in friction and wear. Additionally, it is documented that wear loss as well as friction values decline as the percentage of NC weight increases in the PLA matrix. SEM microscopy was extensively utilised in an analysis of the wear mechanisms in PLA composites with NC filled and PLA as well.

Abstract:

This article reports some morphological, tribological, and mechanical data on polyamide-11(PA11)/halloysite nanotube (HNT) nanocomposites prepared by melt-compounding. HNTs extracted from the Djebel Debbagh deposit in Algeria were incorporated into the polymer at 1, 3, and 5 wt%. For comparison, commercial HNTs were also used under the same processing conditions. Scanning electron microscopy showed that both HNTs were homogeneously dispersed in the PA11 matrix, despite the presence of few aggregates, in particular at higher filler contents. The tribological properties were significantly improved, resulting in a decrease in the friction coefficient and the wear rate characteristics due to the lubricating effect of HNTs. This is consistent with optical profilometry data, which evidenced the impact of both types of HNTs on the surface topography of the nanocomposite samples, in which the main wear process was plastic deformation. Furthermore, Young’s modulus and tensile strength were observed to increase with the filler content, but to the detriment of elongation at break and impact strength. Regarding the whole data, the raw Algerian halloysite led to interesting results in PA11 nanocomposites, thus revealing its potential in polymer engineering nanotechnology
